With a pen in one hand and unapologetic truth in the other, Ms Marquita Writes is redefining what it means to show up boldly, honestly, and free. A rising voice in Philadelphia’s spoken word scene, Marquita may have only been performing for a year, but her impact already reads like a veteran’s chapter.
Her journey began with a single, radical decision: to express herself without apology. That decision sparked a poetic fire that now burns through every stanza she delivers, unafraid, unfiltered, and undeniably real. Since launching TNT Write Nights in June 2024, Marquita has built more than just a platform, she’s built a community for truth-tellers, soul-speakers, and lyric lovers who crave art that hits deeper than the surface.
With a sharp eye on equity, she’s vocal about the need for fair pay and open access for poets. “Our craft should be taught freely and valued accordingly,” she insists. Her dream is simple but powerful: To do the most, and do it on her own terms.
This fall, she’s taking her artistry to the next level with a highly anticipated book release, a written extension of her bold voice, filled with words that cut, heal, and uplift.
